West Oahu Region 769

Referee Bulletin

January 26, 2008

Greetings to my fellow volunteers!  My name is Linford Ramos and I’ve recently been appointed as Regional Referee Administrator for West Oahu Region 769.  I’m a __10__ AYSO veteran and very excited to be in my new position.  I’m looking forward to working with all of our referee volunteers.  Also part of the referee staff are John McCague, Regional Referee Instructor and Robert (Rob) McCarthy, Regional Referee Assessor.  We’re here to help you become better referees and hopefully have fun at the same time.

One of my first goals is to put together a database of our current and active referees.  Can you please email me the following information if you’re a referee?

1.      Your Name

2.      Current Badge Level (Certification)

3.      Number of games officiated and in what age group (U6, U8, U10, etc.)

4.      Best number to call

5.      Email address

This will help me to track the performance of our referees as there are a required number of games needed to move up to the next level of refereeing.  (There are four certification levels – Regional, Intermediate, Advance and National).

Other News

We recently certified __5__ new Regional Referees.  Congratulations to:

Clarence Smith

Angelica Torres

Schnelle Smith

Roger Augustus

O’Ryan McNeal

Note: If there are names that are not mentioned above, please bring this attention to me.  It’s very important to recognize our new referees.

I want to thank each one of you for taking time out to attend West Oahu’s Referee Clinic.  I enjoyed sitting in class and meeting all of you.  Though the number of attendees was typically small (compared to our Fall Season), it was cozy and comfortable.

Please let me know how your first game of the season went.  Last weekend, the father and daughter “Smith” team attacked a U10G game together - Dad as an Assistant Referee (AR), while Schnelle taking the lead as Center Referee.  That’s so awesome!  On another field, at a U10B match, Roger Augustus and Ryan McNeal backed me up as assistant referees.  It will be very soon when both of these individuals will take the lead as Center Referee.

You’ll soon find that your level of experience growing with each game you officiate and you’ll be hungry in taking two to three games a day.  It will happen - believe me!  Keep up the good work!!!
